About
Akaton opened alongside Aotori in January 2026, occupying the casual dining room of the same Østerbro premises. Where Aotori is focused and reservation-only, Akaton is welcoming and walk-in friendly — a casual teishoku spot centred on one dish done brilliantly. The tonkatsu features pork from carefully selected Danish producers (Bertel Gris and Oxneholm Naturgris), breaded in a coating made from dried organic sourdough instead of standard panko, yielding a lighter crust with greater depth. Miso soup, steamed rice, shredded cabbage, and house-made pickles complete the traditional set. Japanese chef Daichi Suminoe oversees both spaces.
