About
Founded by Japanese owner-chef Satoko Takeyama under her Shoyu Hospitality group, Ramen Wasabi is self-described as 'one of few Japanese owned Japanese restaurants in Chicago.' Takeyama's small, intimate Logan Square restaurant has earned more than 2,700 Yelp reviews and sustained loyal patronage for nearly two decades through an uncompromising approach to Japanese ramen. The signature garlic miso ramen—featuring a deeply flavoured miso broth amplified by roasted garlic—and the original tonkotsu are consistently ranked among the best bowls in Chicago. The first-come, first-served policy, intimate seating (8–10 people), and no-delivery stance mirror the ethos of a classic Japanese neighbourhood ramen-ya. Takeyama also opened a Fulton Market spin-off (Ramen Wasabi Fulton Market) in the former Ramen Takeya space, expanding the Japanese-owned ramen presence across the city.
