About
The Yamashita family's story in Barcelona began in 1978 when Yoshizumi Yamashita opened Yamadori, the city's first Japanese restaurant. Yashima followed in 1989 and is now run by the second generation of the family, maintaining a four-space format: regular dining, private tatami rooms, a live teppanyaki counter, and a sushi bar. The restaurant has been a formative experience for generations of Spanish diners discovering Japanese cuisine, and remains one of the most complete Japanese dining rooms in Spain. Its longevity and family continuity make it a rare institution.
