About
Born in Sri Lanka and formed in Tokyo under legendary sushi master Kan, Wicky Priyan arrived in Milan via the Four Seasons Bali and Nobu, opening Wicky's in 2011 on Corso Italia. The restaurant spans two rooms: a front dining room and a counter with an open-view kitchen where the chef conducts an improvised tasting experience for guests who put themselves in his hands. The cuisine — self-described as 'Wicuisine' — avoids the fusion label while weaving Japanese discipline around Mediterranean ingredients: Sicilian amberjack, Mazara del Vallo prawns, and seasonal Italian produce prepared with techniques such as kaneki that date back centuries. Recognised by Gambero Rosso with its maximum Tre Bacchette award in 2025 and consistently listed in the Michelin Guide Italy.
Why it's on Washoku Guide
- One of Italy's most decorated Japanese kitchens, earning Gambero Rosso's Tre Bacchette — the guide's highest honour — in 2025.
- The sushi counter tasting menu is a live performance: Chef Wicky improvises each evening according to what arrived at market that morning.
- A rare East-meets-Mediterranean philosophy executed with near-religious fidelity to Japanese technique — not fusion, but something entirely its own.
- Conveniently located minutes from the Duomo, with parking and a private dining room available for special occasions.
Counter seats offer the full improvisational tasting; à la carte is available at table. Advance booking strongly recommended; special dietary requests require up to one week's notice.
