About
Odachi occupies 48 seats on the ground floor of Casa Brera, a Luxury Collection Hotel, in one of Milan's most storied neighbourhoods. The kitchen is directed by Mario Jim Shizukuishi, a Brazilian-Japanese chef trained directly under Haruo Ichikawa, who acts as culinary consultant for the project. The omakase menu is available in two formats: a five-course experience served at a table (€120) and a seven-course counter experience where Chef Shizukuishi prepares each dish in front of guests (€170). Highlights include sea urchin, toro, wild salmon, and a signature kakuni di toro — pork belly braised in the Japanese tradition. The drinks list ranges across sake, Japanese distillates, and a cocktail menu including riffs on classic aperitivi. The setting is warm and elegant, with wood tones, soft lighting, and discreet hotel service.
Why it's on Washoku Guide
- The culinary DNA of Haruo Ichikawa — the chef who earned Italy's first Japanese Michelin star — lives on at Odachi through his direct disciple's cooking.
- The hotel counter setting offers a rare combination of omakase intimacy and five-star hotel comfort in the heart of Brera.
- At €120–170 for the omakase, Odachi offers a serious counter experience with luxury-level hospitality at a price below Milan's top standalone Japanese restaurants.
Omakase counter (7 courses, €170) requires advance reservation via SevenRooms; table omakase (5 courses, €120) is also available. Ingredients include Italian-sourced sea urchin, red prawns, and toro. Dress code: smart casual.
