One of Milan's oldest continuously operating Japanese-owned restaurants, Oasi Giapponese has been anchored by the Oshima family from Osaka since 2002 — mother runs the room, son Keita (winner of Italian TV programme 'Cuochi d'Italia') cooks. A stronghold of Japanese community dining and one of the few places in Milan to serve proper Osaka-style street food.

About
Opened in 2002 by the Oshima family, who relocated from Osaka, this off-the-beaten-track restaurant in the San Siro / Primaticcio neighbourhood remains among the most authentic Japanese addresses in Milan. Chef-son Keita Oshima, who gained national recognition on the Italian TV programme 'Cuochi d'Italia,' prepares Osaka-inflected Japanese cooking: takoyaki with teriyaki sauce, Osaka-style okonomiyaki, gyoza, and seasonal soups that include ramen, udon, nabe, and soba. The sushi is praised by Japanese community visitors as among the freshest in the city. Multiple reviewers note the kitchen's Japanese integrity and the family's hands-on presence.
Why it's on Washoku Guide
- Frequented primarily by Milan's Japanese community — the most reliable authenticity signal of all.
- Osaka-born Keita Oshima brings genuine street-food classics — takoyaki, okonomiyaki — that are extremely rare in Italian Japanese restaurants.
- Open since 2002 under the same Japanese family — over two decades of continuous Japanese cooking makes this one of Milan's most established ethnic kitchens.
Off the tourist circuit in a residential area near San Siro; worth the journey for serious Japanese food seekers. Cash-friendly neighbourhood pricing.
