About
Katsusanderia is the casual fast-food arm of chef Yoji Tokuyoshi's Kazoku group, launched during the pandemic and now housed at the Mercato Isola food hall in Piazzale Lagosta. Tokuyoshi, originally from Tottori, Japan, trained under Massimo Bottura at Osteria Francescana before earning his own Michelin star in Milan. The menu is compact and precise: classic pork katsusando, chicken katsu, tamago sando, karaage, and okonomiyaki-style fries. Despite its street-food pricing, the kitchen insists on fine-dining standards — Tokuyoshi has stated publicly that 'my bread is fine dining too.' The Isola location sits within Sidewalk Kitchens, a multi-concept food space.
Why it's on Washoku Guide
  • Taste Michelin-pedigree technique at street-food prices: Tokuyoshi's katsusando uses the same exacting frying discipline he applied in his starred kitchen.
  • The tamago sando and chicken karaage are among the most precisely executed Japanese street-food items in Milan.
  • Located inside the lively Mercato Isola, making it a natural stop on any Isola neighbourhood food crawl.

Katsusanderia also operates delivery and a separate location at Via Bonvesin de la Riva 3 (Sidewalk Kitchens). The Piazzale Lagosta outlet is the Isola Mercato kiosk format. Confirm current operating location before visiting.
