About
Izakaya is the vibrant younger sibling of Michelin-starred Kappo, both in Cascais and sharing the same commitment to Japanese culinary culture. Chef Isaac Penão (Tiago Penão's brother) runs the kitchen of this neon-lit, music-forward Japanese tavern where the atmosphere contrasts beautifully with Kappo's restraint. The Michelin Guide recognises it with a 'Good cooking' note, and Repsol newly listed it in 2026. The open counter kitchen is the centrepiece: guests can order from an à la carte menu of tonkatsu sandwiches, yakiniku-style items and skewers, or entrust themselves to an omakase at €65 per person. Open daily, it is Cascais's most accessible high-quality Japanese experience.
Why it's on Washoku Guide
- Michelin-recognised 'Good cooking' and Repsol 2026 — quality validated at the highest level
- Sibling to Michelin-starred Kappo — the same Japanese culinary tradition in a casual format
- Neon-lit izakaya atmosphere with live counter cooking — one of the most fun dining rooms in Cascais
- Omakase option at €65 pp alongside à la carte — suits every budget and appetite
