About
Japan-born Tadashi Nakazawa was born in Japan, moved to New York at age 31 for a career in education, then relocated to Dallas during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021. In May 2023, he opened Moriya Shokudo initially as a food court stall before upgrading to a standalone restaurant at 1920 N Coit Rd in Richardson in April 2025. D Magazine named Moriya Shokudo one of Dallas's six best ramen restaurants, describing all six as founded by Japanese chefs. The menu spans classic tonkotsu and shoyu ramen alongside Japanese-style katsu curry and donburi — an approachable, everyday expression of authentic Japanese home cooking. Nakazawa's mission is to share the genuine flavors of Japanese comfort food with North Dallas.
