About
Conceived by Yoji Tokuyoshi (Tottori, Japan; ex-Bottura sous-chef; former Michelin-star holder) and Alice Yamada, Mogo occupies a dramatic 400 m² industrial space designed by Giorgia Longoni Studio in washi paper, carved wood, and terracotta tones near Scalo Farini. The food — supervised by kitchen lead Simone Montanaro — spans 8–10 dishes rooted in Japanese technique but inflected with Italian and French touches: chicken yakitori, courgette-flower okonomiyaki, and creative seasonal plates. The bar program features Japanese whiskies, sake, natural wines, and signature cocktails by Morris Maramaldi. From Thursday to Saturday, resident DJs and curators from Polifonic and BSR transform Mogo into a late-night listening experience, with the sound system — one of Milan's finest — as the co-star. A barefoot private room and outdoor patio complete the space.
Why it's on Washoku Guide
- The only Japanese-led listening bar in Milan, where Hi-Fi curation by Polifonic is as central to the evening as Tokuyoshi's cooking.
- A genuinely innovative menu that fuses Japanese technique with French and Italian influences, without losing authenticity.
- Mogo's sake and Japanese whisky selection is among the most curated in the city, with organic and natural wines alongside.
- The outdoor patio and barefoot private room make it equally suited to a convivial Sunday brunch (from 13:00) or a late-night Thursday session.
Mogo operates as both a restaurant and a nightlife venue. Kitchen hours vary by day; late-night music programming begins Thursday. Reservations recommended for dinner and weekend sessions. Opening April 2025.
