About
Wagaya brings a slice of Tokyo convenience-store onigiri culture to Amsterdam's metro network, but with the quality of a dedicated Japanese artisan kitchen. Every onigiri is made fresh each morning by the Japanese team using carefully selected ingredients imported from Japan. The name — wagaya, meaning 'my home' — reflects the ethos of comfort and welcome that the owners bring to each rice ball. Located inside the Wibautstraat metro station in Oost, it serves commuters and local residents during weekday hours and on Sunday afternoons. Cashless payments only.
Why it's on Washoku Guide
  • Japanese-run artisan onigiri — as close to a Tokyo convenience store as Amsterdam gets
  • All ingredients imported directly from Japan for uncompromised authentic flavour
  • Fresh every morning — the team makes rice balls daily rather than pre-packing
  • Metro-level convenience without sacrificing quality

Opened early 2025. Type mapped to donburi (rice-based snack food). No phone listed; cashless only.
