About
Sushi by Scratch Beverly Hills opened in 2024 as chef-owner Phillip Frankland Lee's expansion of his Santa Barbara original. Lee, a California-born chef trained in Western fine dining, developed a distinctive omakase style centered on local fish, house-cured proteins, and cocktail pairings designed to complement each course. The restaurant received one Michelin star and is one of very few non-Japanese-chef omakase counters recognized by the guide.
Why it's on Washoku Guide
  • Michelin one star (2024 California Guide)
  • Distinctive California omakase with house-made cocktail pairings
  • Intimate speakeasy-style counter on La Cienega Blvd
  • Chef Phillip Frankland Lee's inventive, non-traditional omakase voice
