About
Hidden in an unassuming townhouse in Frankfurt's Ostend, Masa Japanese Cuisine has earned the recognition its quality deserves. Chef Masaru Oae honed his craft in Düsseldorf under the guidance of Yoshizumi Nagaya — Japan's most decorated chef in Germany — before establishing his own kitchen. The two omakase menus, composed of seven or nine courses, showcase pristine produce: Michelin inspectors highlighted scallops with dashi butter sauce, excellent sushi, and elaborately decorated starter medleys as standout moments. Guests choose between a fish and meat menu or a vegetarian version, both elevated by optional sake pairings. The intimate room features both small tables and a food counter where guests can watch Oae at work. Visit Frankfurt Tourism rates it among the city's most important Japanese dining addresses.
